Days left till the 50th: 3 (nearly there!)

Episodes watched:  100

Today’s Episode: Crimson Horror

Writer: Mark Gatiss

Crimson Poster

This is the ONLY Gatiss episode I like. I first saw this down at my local pub, the 42 Lounge, and while watching it, I was drinking a sonic screwdriver and laughing my butt off at all the jokes. This really was a fun romp, as it is not a story to be taken seriously like Vincent and the Doctor or Blink. It really shows off a great silly side to the Doctor. As one person put it, this is pretty much a summanation of Doctor Who..

Strax: And how will [Jenny] locate the Doctor?

Madame Vastra: To find him, she needs only ignore all “keep out” signs, go through every locked door, and run toward any form of danger that presents itself.

Strax: Business as usual, then?

Madame Vastra: Business as usual.

I loved how they introduce Mr. Thursday, and his fainting at everything…

Mr. Thursday

Also how he did give them this photo.. I was laughing so hard at it!

poor doctor

At least Jenny does manage to find the poor Doctor. He’s so red.

After she saves him.. All he can do is this..

So, what does Jenny do? Totally and rightfully do.. Gives him a good SLAP! That was a good one!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Then the Doctor explains how they arrived…

How they met Mrs. Gillyflower, whom is played by the amazing Dame Diana Rigg. She had so much fun with the role! She’s well known for her work on the Avengers (The TV show not the films!) and most recently in Game of Thrones. Seems like they have been kind to spare their actors recently for Doctor Who, eh?

So they go off and find and save Clara, Strax has problems trying to find Sweetville.

Get it? The GPS Tom Tom?!!! I was laughing so hard at this awesome joke.

While Clara is getting back to normal, the Doctor and Jenny get attacked by the Gillyflower Goones. So Jenny strips down into warrior gear under her dress, making the Doctor do this with his sonic..

bad sonic

Then Strax and Madame join them, and Strax is a wee bit.. well..

strax being awesome

So Jenny and Madame meet Clara.. well this Clara..

Crimson Horror

Together, Madame and the Doctor discuss the posion, and Clara helps them realize, that there is a chimney with no smoke, which means there must be a rocket or something.

Doctor and Clara then goes to confront Mrs. Gillyflower, and she reveals who Mr. Sweet is!

mr. sweet

What is that??? Oh that creature that Madame mentioned that exisited 25 million years ago??!! WHAT?? Well here is Gatiss acting like Mr. Sweet to get an idea of why it lived for so long..

gatiss on mr. sweet

So the Doctor tries to convince her not to use the poison. We get a small cameo from Charlie the Badger!! SEE???

It didn’t go to well… the convincing part.

wrong hands

I think it was due to Charlie. He must have convinced her.

So off the rocket goes! No poison on board since the Gang intercepted it! Then Mrs. Gillyflower shoots at the gang once she realizes what has happened, and sadly misses after Strax shoots back at her… and falls to her death. So Mr. Sweet then crawls away, but Ada kills it, as she’s really upset that her mom blinded her and died.

So Away the Doctor and Clara goes, without giving the Gang any explanation about who Clara is, as he has no idea himself now, since he knows that she doesn’t know about the different version of herself.

Clara goes home, and it turns out the kids she’s taken care of have been doing a little digging…. Found pictures of her from Cold War and Hide. Also Snowmen, but she knows that she was in Yorkshire not London like the other Clara.

They then blackmail her for an adventure that will take place tomorrow!

Oh I found this really funny video.. an alternative ending to Doomsday. Watch it and laugh! Yes, Its captioned if you need that kinda thing..

Till Tomorrow, were we see Gaiman’s Cybermen! 100 episodes done, 2 to go!!!

Today’s Episode: A Good Man Goes to War

Writer: Stephen Moffat

Before we begin, whenever I think of this episode, I think of this poem..

Demons run when a good man goes to war.

Night will fall and drown the sun,

When a good man goes to war.

Friendship dies and true love lies,

Night will fall and the dark will rise,

When a good man goes to war.

Demons run, but count the cost.

The battle’s won but the child is lost.

Also we have this prequel..

The opening is one of the best openings I have ever seen for a Television show..we begin with Amy talking to a little baby..

AMY: I wish I could tell you that you’ll be loved. That you’ll be safe and cared for and protected. But this isn’t a time for lies. (picks up MELODY) What you are going to be, Melody…

We see the EYE-PATCH LADY and a number of armed soldiers standing behind AMY.

AMY: …is very, very brave.

EYE-PATCH LADY: Two minutes.

AMY: But not as brave as they’ll have to be. Because there’s someone coming. I don’t know where he is, or what he’s doing, but trust me. He’s on his way.

SPACE

20,000 LIGHT YEARS AWAY

INT. CYBER-SHIP, CORRIDORS

As Cybermen march along a corridor, we see a figure walk past in the shadows, a cloak billowing behind him. We then see the sonic screwdriver used on a door lock. The door slides closed keeping out other Cybermen.

INT. CYBER-SHIP, CONTROL

The CYBERLEADER and two other Cybermen are monitoring the ship.

CYBERMAN: Intruder. Level nine. Seal level nine.

The ship rocks as small explosions go off.

INT. DEMON’S RUN, NURSERY

AMY: There’s a man who’s never going to let us down.

AMY looks out a window and sees a large army gathering outside.

AMY: And not even an army can get in the way.

The EYE-PATCH LADY walks towards AMY, arms out. Two soldiers walk close behind.

AMY: Leave her, just you leave her. Please leave her! Leave her!

A YOUNG FEMALE SOLDIER watches as AMY sobs as her daughter is taken away. By the door, two hooded monks step closer to the rail.

INT. CYBER-SHIP, CONTROL

The ship is rocked by explosions.

CYBERMAN: Intruder, level 11.

CYBERLEADER: Seal levels 12, 13 and 14.

CYBERMAN: Intruder, level 15.

INT. DEMON’S RUN, NURSERY

MELODY is in her bassinett. AMY leans over her.

AMY: He’s the last of his kind. He looks young, but he’s lived for hundreds and hundreds of years. And wherever they take you, Melody, however scared you are, I promise you, you will never be alone. (leans over and kisses MELODY on the forehead)Because this man is your father.

INT. CYBER-SHIP, CONTROL

The CYBERLEADER takes position, flanked by other CYBERMEN.

CYBERLEADER: Prepare to engage.

INT. DEMON’S RUN, NURSERY

AMY: He has a name, but the people of our world know him better…

INT. CYBER-SHIP, CONTROL

The doors slide open and RORY strides in wearing his Roman garb. The CYBERMEN aim their weapons at him.

AMY: (v.o.)..as the Last Centurion.

A good man goes to war rory's speech

Damnit, if anything wants me to sit and watch the rest of the epsidoe, that opening to a mid-season finale will do it. Its amazing watching all the characters gather, from seeing the Doctor meet up up with Malovar, and guesting in Captian Avery, as well as the pilots from Victory of the Daleks last season. We also are introducted to three totally awesome characters, Madame Vastra, Jenny and Strax. Moffat did try to get John Barrowman, but sadly he was too busy working on Miracle Day, thus no Jack Harkness. However Strax totally makes up for it. Don’t you think? There are so many great lines, especially this whole scene, when they were trying to figure out what the army was up to with Melody..

DOCTOR: But she’s human. She’s Amy and Rory’s daughter.

VASTRA: You told me about your people. They became what they did through prolonged exposure to the time vortex. The untempered schism…

DOCTOR: Over billions of years, it didn’t just happen.

VASTRA: So how close is she? Could she even regenerate?

DOCTOR: No, no! I don’t think so.

VASTRA: You don’t sound so sure.

DOCTOR: Because I don’t understand how this happened!

VASTRA: Which leads me to ask… when did it happen?

DOCTOR: When?

VASTRA: I am trying to be delicate…I know how you can blush. When did this baby… begin?

DOCTOR: Oh, you mean…

VASTRA: Quite.

DOCTOR: Well, how would I know? That’s all human-y, private stuff, it just sort of…goes on. They don’t put up a balloon, or anything. (walks down the hall)

VASTRA: But could the child have begun on the TARDIS, in flight, in the vortex.

DOCTOR: (heads back) No, no, impossible! It’s all running about, sexy fish vampires and blowing up stuff. And Rory wasn’t even there at the beginning. Then he was dead, then he didn’t exist, then he was plastic. Then I had to reboot the whole universe…long story. So technically the first time they were on the TARDIS together, in this version of reality, was on their…

VASTRA: On their what?

DOCTOR: (gulps) On their wedding night.

Moffat did state that he wrote the Big Bang knowing what will go on behind the scenes after that finale aired. He said, it was a private sexual joke that only he knew until this episode aired. Also, if your recall back to the Doctor’s Wife, they had bunk beds. Moffat did say something about using the ladder..

However, the overlying plot was Melody was kidnapped, and the Doctor, once figuring out whom she was, went to go get her.  I adored it when River came onto the scene with the great line.. “Well, soldier, how goes the day?” that line has been stuck in my head forever.

A good man goes to war

We were still left in the dark… luckily… River explained to a very irate Amy about how “The only water in the forest is the river” line that Idris gave us.. and we learnt that Melody Pond is River Song!

Awesomeness.. to be continued tomorrow where Rory hits Hitler and shoves him in a cabinet.
